City Boys Movement Launches Tinubu 2027 Campaign in Anambra, Calls for Support for Second Term

The City Boys Movement, a group campaigning for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, has launched its Anambra State chapter, urging residents to support the administration’s development agenda and strengthen the state’s relationship with the Federal Government.

The campaign initiative, organised under the leadership of Lagos-based businessman Chief Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as “Cubana,” was unveiled at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.

The event, themed “Get Up, Sign Up and Shine for Anambra through City Boys Movement,” with the sub-theme “To Inform, To Engage and To Empower,” attracted supporters and stakeholders advocating for Tinubu’s re-election.

Anambra Needs Strategic Federal Partnership—SSG

Representing the Anambra State Government at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Chiamaka Nnake, called on residents to support President Tinubu’s bid for a second term.

Nnake argued that continued collaboration between the state and Federal Government would help secure interventions for Anambra’s infrastructure development projects and programmes.

She cautioned against what she described as emotional politics, urging residents to prioritise strategic partnerships that could advance the state’s interests.

“Anambra State needs a strategic partnership with President Tinubu’s Federal Government and to be at the decision-making centre, which would be in the best interest of the people, since the Governor cannot do much without Federal Government intervention,” she said.

The SSG maintained that maintaining a constructive relationship with the Federal Government could support the state’s development objectives.

Cubana Appeals for Support for Tinubu

The convener of the Southeast City Boys Movement, Chief Iyiagu, popularly known as “Cubana,” appealed to residents to support the Tinubu administration and its 2027 re-election campaign.

He argued that closer alignment with the Federal Government could contribute to socioeconomic development in Anambra State and the wider Southeast.

Cubana urged the people to recognise the potential benefits of sustained cooperation with the administration.

Panel Advocates End to Emotional Politics

During a panel discussion, participants, including Professor Nwachukwu of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, called for a shift from emotional politics towards strategic political engagement.

The panelists advocated support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, arguing that greater representation and participation in national decision-making would help position the Southeast to benefit from national resources and development opportunities.

The speakers emphasised the importance of political engagement and representation in shaping policies affecting the region.

APC Leaders, Stakeholders Attend Event

The campaign launch attracted political leaders, community representatives and supporters of the City Boys Movement.

Those present included the Anambra State APC leader, Hon. Ikem Uzoezie; Ifeatu Soludo, daughter of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who led a women’s group; and the state director of the City Boys Movement, Ozoemena.

Others included the movement’s Director-General, Toyin Favour Olugbenga; Barrister Sylvester Udemezue, identified as a former law teacher of Seyi Tinubu; Ambassador Elijah Onyeagba; APC House of Representatives aspirant for the Anaocha-Njikoka Federal Constituency, Dr Onyeka Ebenebe; and Mr Nwebili.

The event concluded with renewed calls for political participation, grassroots mobilisation and support for the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
