The Anambra State Police Command has appealed to members of the public to assist in identifying and reuniting a four-year-old boy, who was found wandering along Anatanaba Road, Okpoko, with his family.

The child, who identified himself as Ifedimma Emmanuel, was rescued on the evening of September 18, 2026, during a joint security patrol conducted by police operatives attached to Okpoko Police Division and members of the Okpoko Vigilante Group.

The command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the boy was unable to provide sufficient information about his parents, guardians, residential address or other details that could assist in tracing his family.

According to Ikenga, the child is currently in the safe custody of the Police, where his safety and welfare are being adequately attended to while efforts continue to locate his parents or other relatives.

Police Appeal for Information

The command urged parents, guardians, relatives and members of the public who may recognise the child or have information about his family to contact the Police.

“The Command is therefore appealing to parents, guardians, relatives and members of the public who may recognise the child or have any information that could assist in identifying and locating his family to promptly contact Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command,” Ikenga stated.

He further encouraged members of the public to provide credible information that could help verify the child’s identity and facilitate his safe reunification with his family.

“The Command assures the public that the welfare, safety and protection of the child remain paramount, and that every necessary step is being taken to ensure his safe and timely reunification with his family,” he added.

Anyone with information about Ifedimma Emmanuel or his family is encouraged to contact Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.
