Obi Supporter Takes Fresh Swipe at Soludo: “Fix Anambra, Stop Chasing Peter Obi”

A supporter of Peter Obi has launched a fresh attack on the Anambra State Government, accusing Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration of spending too much energy revisiting the former governor’s record instead of addressing the problems confronting residents.

Valentine Okwuchukwu, an Obi supporter and member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), challenged the Soludo administration to produce documentary evidence to support claims concerning alleged debts inherited from Obi’s administration.

Okwuchukwu’s message was blunt: “Fix Anambra. Stop the distractions.”

In a statement, he said the state government should stop what he described as its continued focus on Obi and concentrate on roads, security, jobs, infrastructure and other pressing needs of Ndi Anambra.

“The Anambra State Government needs to stop chasing Peter Obi and start confronting the problems staring Ndi Anambra in the face,” Okwuchukwu said.

The latest salvo comes amid renewed political arguments over the financial position allegedly inherited by the Soludo administration from Obi, who governed Anambra from 2006 to 2013.

Okwuchukwu said Obi had rejected allegations that his administration left behind unpaid salaries, pensions, gratuities, contractor debts and a ₦2 billion ecological loan.

According to him, Obi’s position is that the ₦2 billion was ecological intervention funding released for the Oko/Umuchiana erosion crisis and remained intact for the incoming administration because, as Obi has argued, “government is a continuum.”

Okwuchukwu therefore challenged those making contrary claims to produce the relevant financial records.

“Where are the documents?” he asked.

“If there was truly a debt, show the records. If contractors were owed, publish the evidence. Let facts—not political statements—settle the matter.”

The Obi supporter said the debate over alleged inherited liabilities should not distract the government from what he described as the immediate challenges facing residents.

He particularly pointed to the condition of roads in parts of the state, saying deteriorating infrastructure was making movement and commercial activities increasingly difficult for motorists, traders, workers and businesses.

“While the government is busy attacking Peter Obi, Anambra’s roads are crying for attention,” he said.

Okwuchukwu urged Soludo to focus on what he called the core responsibilities of government, including infrastructure development, security, employment and delivery of public services.

“Mr. Professor, enough of the political dancing. Face the roads,” he said.

“Stop attacking Peter Obi. Stop looking backward. Govern Anambra and fix what is broken.”

He also framed the controversy in the context of the 2027 elections, arguing that voters would ultimately judge political leaders based on their performance.

“Come 2027, Ndi Anambra and Nigerians will have the opportunity to decide who truly represents their interests,” Okwuchukwu said.

“The people are watching. The people are remembering. The people will decide.”

He concluded: “Fix Anambra. Stop the distractions. Let performance speak.”
