Soludo urges Corp members to leave positive, lasting impact in Anambra

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has urged corps members posted to the state for their one year mandatory service to render dedicated service to the and the nation.

Soludo gave the charge on Friday at the Swearing-in & Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream II Orientation Course held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South LGA of the state.

The governor, represented by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, charged the corps members to take advantage of the service year to learn, to teach and to leave a positive, lasting impact in the state.

He said, “My dear Corps members, I commend you for heeding this call to serve our nation. The NYSC embodies the spirit of unity, patriotism, and social responsibility.

“Your willingness to participate, to live and work in communities different from where you grew up, and to contribute your skills and energy to national integration is both noble and necessary.

“Your service will strengthen the bonds that hold our diverse country together and will bring fresh ideas, skills, and hope to communities across Anambra State.

“Your welfare and safety are priorities for this administration. Let me assure you that the State Government has put in place measures to protect and support Corps Members throughout your orientation and subsequent service year.

“We have liaised with security agencies to ensure a safe environment within and around this camp and in the communities where you will be deployed.

“Health services are available on site, and we will continue to coordinate with NYSC to ensure prompt care and attention whenever needed.

“Should any Corps Member face issues that require intervention, the State Government, working with NYSC officials, will act swiftly and decisively.

“On policy and areas where your support is most needed: Anambra State is focused on human capital development, education, healthcare outreach, rural infrastructure, agricultural value chains, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment.

“You will be deployed to places where these needs are significant. I urge you to apply your training, creativity, and determination to support primary and secondary schools.

“You’ll also assist in community health initiatives, participate in youth skills training and entrepreneurship programmes, and help mobilize communities for developmental projects.

“Your role in civic and voter education, environmental sanitation, and public health awareness will be invaluable.

“As you begin this Orientation Course, I charge you to commit fully to the programme and its activities. Participate actively in all sessions, trainings, and community engagements.

“Embrace discipline, respect camp rules, and foster good relationships with fellow Corps Members and host communities.

Earlier, State Coordinator, Mrs Pauline Ojisua said a total of 2,300 corps members consisting of 1,080 males and 1,220 females were ready for swearing in during the event.

She urged them to strictly adhere to all existing laws, NYSC regulations, and security guidelines.

According to her, all camp facilities and programmes have been fully put in place to ensure a smooth, well-organized, and impactful orientation experience.

She said, “The Orientation Course serves as the foundation of the Corps Members’ service year. All camp facilities and programmes have been fully put in place to ensure a smooth, well-organized, and impactful orientation experience.

“Over the next three weeks, participants will go through a well-structured programme aimed at fostering discipline, patriotism, teamwork, and essential competencies for nation-building.

“Discipline remains a core value of the NYSC Scheme. Through military drills, physical training, and sporting activities, Corps Members will build physical fitness, sharpen mental alertness, and strengthen teamwork.

“In addition, the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme will provide them with practical skills for self-reliance beyond the service year.

“Furthermore, all camp officials, security agencies, medical teams, and collaborating partners have been fully mobilized to ensure effective administration, welfare, and security throughout the duration of the programme.”
