“I Won’t Be a Sleeping Legislator” — ADC Candidate Nwuzor Pledges New Direction for Awka North/South

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Awka North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Dominic Okey Nwuzor, has promised to deliver active, accountable and purposeful representation, declaring that he will remain accessible to constituents if elected to the House of Representatives.

Nwuzor made the pledge during the formal flag-off of his campaign at Nibo Ward II, where he unveiled his vision for what he described as a new era of representation for the constituency.

Popularly known as “Ududo” (the Spider) because of his extensive network of supporters, the ADC candidate said his decision to commence the campaign in his home ward was guided by the principle that “charity begins at home.”

He urged residents to support his candidacy, promising that their decision would not be regretted.

Nwuzor said he would establish a performance index to identify and track the needs and development priorities of communities within the constituency.

“Unlike those who represented the federal constituency before me and only remember the people during election periods, I will remain in touch with the people,” he said.

He identified healthcare, skills acquisition and youth empowerment as the three priority areas of his proposed legislative agenda.

“Having studied the constituency, I will create a performance index and provide each community with what they need. My priority will be in three core areas: healthcare, skills acquisition and youth empowerment,” Nwuzor said.

The candidate described himself as part of a new generation of leaders committed to changing the pattern of political representation in the constituency.

“I belong to a new generation of leadership that will give positive direction to the constituency. I won’t be a sleeping legislator. You will hear my voice in the National Assembly on a daily basis,” he declared.

ADC Leaders Rally Support for Nwuzor

Former National Chairman and founder of the ADC, Chief Nwosu, urged voters in Nibo to support Nwuzor and break what he described as a longstanding gap in the community’s representation of the federal constituency.

He recalled that since 1999, when Hon. Ozor Ughammadu represented the constituency, no other person from the community had attained similar prominence in representing the area.

Chief Nwosu also expressed confidence in the presidential prospects of the ADC candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, predicting strong support for him across the country.

“Atiku will sweep the North and earn enough votes in at least four states from the South,” he said.

He added that an Nwuzor victory would provide Nibo with opportunities for greater development and political representation.

The ADC State Chairman, Rt. Hon. BenChuks Nwosu, said the party settled on Nwuzor because of his capacity to win the election.

He urged the candidate and his supporters to intensify their campaign across the Obizi power bloc, which he identified as an important voting constituency.

He also commended the women supporting Nwuzor, particularly members of the Ududo Support Group, urging them to sustain their mobilisation efforts.

Other speakers at the event expressed support for Nwuzor’s candidacy.

Hon. C. C. Okeke commended the candidate for choosing his home ward as the starting point of his campaign, while the ADC women leader, Hon. Mrs. Nkechi Oguelina, pledged to mobilise women across the constituency for his victory.

Nwuzor’s elder brother, Sir Edwin Chira Nwuzor, described him as trustworthy and a man who keeps his word, urging voters to support his aspiration.

The event was attended by ADC leaders and supporters, including the party’s Enugu State Chairman and National Executive Council member, Hon. C. C. Okeke; the party’s women leader, Hon. Mrs. Nkechi Oguelina; representatives of the traditional ruler of Nibo, Igwe Ezike; cabinet chiefs and other stakeholders.

The campaign flag-off ended with a strong show of support from party faithful and residents, as Nwuzor pledged to pursue a more visible and responsive style of representation for the people of Awka North/South Federal Constituency.
