FRSC Operatives Rescue Middle Aged Man Found Unconscious on Expressway in Awka

A middle-aged man has been rescued by operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra Sector Command along the Awka-Enugu expressway.

The victim was reportedly found unconscious by the roadside opposite the FRSC Office without injuries on his body.

According to Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Margaret Onabe, the rescue team arrived the scene at 7.35pm and evacuated the victim within five minutes.

She said the victim was immediately taken to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka, for urgent medical attention.

Onabe added that the cause of the incident remains unknown, and no eyewitness report was available at the scene.

“In a follow-up visit to COOUTH on 13th April 2026, a team led by the, Sector Medical and Rescue Services Officer (SMRS)Awka, confirmed that all road traffic crash victims previously admitted have been discharged, except the male adult rescued on 8th April who remains unconscious.

“According to the Doctor on duty, efforts to identify the victim have been unsuccessful as he has not regained consciousness, and no relatives have come forward.

“The Command has appealed to the hospital management to notify FRSC immediately once the victim regains consciousness.

“Sector Commander, FRSC Anambra State Command, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno commended the swift response of the rescue team and reiterated the Command’s dedication to prompt rescue operations, post-crash care, and public enlightenment.

“Our mandate is clear – to save lives. We urge members of the public to assist in identifying crash victims always to call our toll-free emergency line 122 to report crashes or distressed persons.

“The Command is appealing to anybody with useful information to identify the victim to kindly come forward or contact the FRSC immediately.

“The Command remains committed to saving lives, public enlightenment, and prompt rescue services.
