The Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Doctor Nonye Soludo says controlling diabetes epidemic in communities is a task that demands both hands.
She stated this while speaking on this year’s World Diabetes day marked across the globe.
Acording to her, while routine medical checks remain very important to reversing the trend, the primary step is to observe lifestyles more carefully.
Doctor Soludo observed that lifestyle choices can kill or save a soul, hence the need for all to be upright in selecting.
The Wife of the Anambra Governor noted that a large chunk of what the people consume was really killing them.
She therefore advised that Nigerians must pay closer attention to whatever goes into their body, whether as food, drinks, or whatever as such is where Healthy Living plays the biggest part.
Doctor Soludo said that diabetes has found its way into homes, largely because many people have preferred junks and unhealthy foods instead of what nature has blessed the coutrt richly with.
Diabetes remains a major health concern in Nigeria, with official data putting the number of people who are living with the disease in the country alone at over 3 million.
Doctor Soludo regretted that despite the figure, millions of cases remain undiagnosed, making the accurate count even more disturbing.
The theme of this year’s diabetes Day which is Diabetes across Life Stages notes that a balanced, healthy diet and regular physical activity is essential for prevention and control of diabetes.
