A tricycle armed robbery suspect was again burnt alive for snatching a tricycle, popularly known as Keke at Nkpor, near Onitsha, Anambra State.

This is coming barely one week after five tricycle armed robbers were reportedly set ablaze for the same offence in the same area.

The deceased reportedly snatched the tricycle from its driver at about 7am on Sunday in company of three gang members, armed with guns and other dangerous weapons.

Anambradaily gathered that they were however unlucky as they met severe resistance by some brave and able-bodied youths who came in defence of the driver.

“The armed robbers shot sporadically into the air and drove off in the tricycle they came with, leaving one of their members who drove the snatched tricycle behind.

“The youths ran after the robbers and eventually caught up with the one driving the snatched tricycle at Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, while other three members escaped.

“The youths brought him back to the scene of the incident where they beat him to pulp and burnt him alive while passersby watched helplessly,” narrated a resident of the area who pleaded anonymity.

Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga when contacted, simply replied, “no such incident was to my knowledge, please.”
