Anambra Mega Rally: Obi Supporters Grounds Onitsha

Business activities in Onitsha, the commercial nerve centre of Anambra State, was on Saturday grounded by supporters of the Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi.

The multitudes of supporters converged at Onitsha South Local Government Area Secretariat, at about 9am, from where they took off to major streets/roads, causing heavy traffic gridlock.

At Upper Iweka axis, human and vehicular movements were paralyzed by the intimidating crowd with convoy of over 50 vehicles.

The police and Federal Road Safety, Corps, FRSC, officials who were controlling the traffic, ensured miscreants did not penetrate the crowd to cause disorder as the train of supporters acknowledged cheers from residents.

Reacting to the march, a resident of Onitsha, Mr. Okolo Abanuno, said that, “Obi has won already, they said he has no structures and we will know who has structures when the time comes.

“May be the old people who are contesting for the same Presidential election with Peter Obi, will tell us, they refused to allow the youths be in government.”

In his reaction, a student who did not want his name in print said that, ” Obi is the man of the people and Nigerians want him”
