Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has promised to shed lights on the fallout of the presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Wike disclosed this in a statement issued through Mr Kelvin Ebiri, his Special Assistant on Media in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

Wike said it had become pertinent for him to speak to Nigerians about all that had transpired in the party since the emergence of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as the presidential candidate of the party.

According to him, “On Atiku, I will speak soon and Nigerians will know the actual truth of all that has transpired in the PDP in recent times.”

Recall that the Rivers Governor contested the PDP presidential ticket alongside others and lost to Atiku. Wike was given a double blow when Atiku eventually picked Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate, ignoring him.

Wike, Okowa and Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa-Ibom had appeared before the screening panel set up by the PDP to nominate a vice-presidential candidate to the PDP presidential flagbearer. According to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State who was a member of the committee set up by the party, 14 out of 17 members of the committee had recommended Wike, but Atiku ended up picking Okowa.

The Wike camp felt betrayed by Atiku’s choice of Okowa as well as his failure to reach out to the Rivers helmsman after that and efforts to pacify the aggrieved group has been unsuccessful so far.
