Labour Party Orders Merger of all Obi Support Groups to Deliver Obi, other LP Candidates in Anambra

Hundreds of support groups backing the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi in Anambra State, were on Friday, urged to collapse their structure to form a formidable superstructure that can deliver Obi and other party’s national and state legislative candidates in the 2023 general election.

The call was made at the unveiling of 30 state assembly, 11 federal House of Representatives and three Senatorial flag bearers of the party at the Hollywood Events Center, Agu-Awka.

The event which drew over 60 different support groups backing Peter Obi including the Victor Umeh Solidarity Network (VUSON) was also used as a fertile ground to convert more followers into the Labour Party in Anambra.

The party’s candidates unveiled at the event include Mr Peter Obi, Presidential candidate; Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, Anambra Central; Dr Obinna Uzor, Senate, Anambra South; and Dr Tony Nwoye, Senate, Anambra North. The contestants for Federal House of Representatives included Professor Lillian Orogbu, Awka North and Awka South; Mrs Nicky Ugochukwu, Orumba North and South Federal Constituency; Hon. Emeka Iduu G., Onitsha North and Onitsha South; among others.

Speaking on behalf of all the contestants, the Senatorial Candidate of Labour Party for Anambra Central, Chief Victor Umeh, described the mass support to Obi and the party as God’s ordain, assuring they would mobilise support for all the LP candidates.

“This is a mission God wants us to embark on. And we have accepted it in good faith. All those who want good for Nigeria should join Labour Party. Nigerians have accepted Obi. People are working tirelessly for Peter Obi to become the next President of Nigeria. The project has gone beyond Obi and Labour Party. God has taken over with massive support from people we don’t know.

“Anambra State residents would not relent in given the project a massive support too. We will work very hard to deliver him and other candidates of Labour Party. We will make history. When he wins, all Nigerian problems will be solved. We have our individual strengths but some of us will win because of Obi. When all of us wins, we will stand out for Obi and give him support to deliver,” he noted.

Also speaking, the National Organising Secretary of the Labour Party, Mr Clement Ojukwu, explained that the party nominated quality candidates with proven records of achievements in life, and urged people to rally support for them to win the various positions been contested for in the 2023 general elections.

Presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi, represented by Sir Oseloka Obaze, assured Nigerians that Labour Party has good agenda and programmes to uplift the country from consumption to production economy.

“Labour party is an expectation purpose vehicle. Nigerians are yearning to take back the country from corrupt politicians nationwide. Like our Vice Presidential candidate, Daitti would say, Labour Party is workers party. Everyone who is gainfully employed in Nigeria is a member of LP. The man or woman whose children are at home because of ASUU strike are yearning for change. When the righteous are on the throne people rejoice. Take back Niger is not a revolution but movement,” he noted.

Also in an interview, Mr Henry Nwaebili, who is Labour Party candidate for Ogbaru 2 State Constituency, assured victory for the party at entire Ogbaru Federal Constituency, which according to him, was suffering over abandonment by the state government.

In an interview, the Anambra State Youth Hon. Ekene Nnadi, assured that the youth would ensure that all the candidates of Labour Party win the 2023 general elections from the state to President, even as they were already preparing a South East mega summit to that effect.

Earlier, the Anambra State Chairman of Labour Party, Chief Ugochukwu Emeh, said the party structure was battle ready for the 2023 general elections, and charged the harmonisation committee inaugurated to unify all the Peter Obi support group, to find tune best ways of doing it from the state to polling unit level.
