Njikoka Mayor-elect Okeakpu Vows to Deepen Soludo’s Development Agenda

The newly elected Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Ikechukwu Okeakpu, has pledged to deepen Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s development agenda at the grassroots, with a focus on security, education, healthcare, infrastructure and youth empowerment.

Okeakpu made the pledge in Awka, the Anambra State capital, shortly after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).

The Mayor-elect commended Governor Soludo for what he described as his commitment to good governance, which, he said, contributed to the victory of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidates in the local government and ward elections across the state.

He assured the people of Njikoka that his administration would build on the gains of the Soludo administration by prioritising initiatives capable of improving the welfare and living standards of residents.

According to him, rural development, education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, agriculture and youth development would form major pillars of his administration.

“Receiving this Certificate of Return is not just a personal achievement; it is a testament to the collective will of my people,” Okeakpu said.

“I want to express my profound appreciation to every single voter who placed their trust in me, as well as my dedicated campaign team and all those who supported our vision for a thriving Njikoka LGA.

“To me, my election as Mayor is about affirming the commitment of Njikoka people to progress, unity and sustainable development. I am truly honoured, and I assure you that I do not take this responsibility lightly.”

Okeakpu also thanked his supporters for their confidence in him, promising to remain accountable to the people and ensure that the mandate entrusted to him translates into tangible development.

He extended an olive branch to all stakeholders in Njikoka, regardless of political affiliation, and called for collective efforts to move the local government forward.

“Njikoka is our home, and our destinies are intertwined. Together, we will work towards a future that leaves no one behind,” he said.

Earlier, while presenting Certificates of Return to the successful Mayors and councillors, the Chairman of ANSIEC, Mrs Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe, charged the newly elected officials to make development and good governance their priorities.

Osakwe commended the electoral process that produced the new local government leadership across the state and assured stakeholders that the commission would continue to improve its processes where necessary in future elections.
