Anambra Anglican Community Mourns Young Clergyman After Fatal Road Crash

The Anglican community in Anambra State has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Rev’d Chibuzo Amakom, a young Anglican priest who reportedly died in a fatal car accident barely two months after his ordination.

Amakom reportedly lost his life in the crash on Friday, September 4, 2026, leaving his family, colleagues, friends and members of the Anglican Church devastated.

The late priest served at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Nkpor, before his ordination and subsequent transfer.

His death has come as a particularly painful blow to the church community, given that he had only recently been ordained into the priesthood and begun what many expected to be a long ministry.

“It is a heartbreaking loss. He was a young priest whose journey in ministry had only just begun. It is difficult to comprehend that he is gone,” a member of the church community said while mourning the deceased.
