Promotion Comes With Greater Responsibility, Discipline — NDLEA Decorates 57 Officers in Anambra

The Anambra State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has decorated 57 newly promoted officers, with the State Commander reminding them that their elevation is not merely a reward but a call to greater responsibility, discipline and renewed commitment to the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

The colourful decoration ceremony, held at the Command’s Operational Base in 33 Onitsha, Anambra State, attracted principal officers of the Command, family members, friends and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the officers’ career advancement.

Addressing the gathering, the State Commander, Commander of Narcotics (CN) Onubogu Charles Orakwue, congratulated the promoted personnel, describing their new ranks as recognition of their dedication, professionalism and outstanding service to the Agency.

“Your promotion is a call to greater responsibility, discipline and renewed commitment. You must justify the confidence reposed in you through hard work, integrity, professionalism and exemplary conduct in the discharge of your duties,” Orakwue said.

The Commander said the promotion exercise underscores the unwavering commitment of the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), to staff welfare, motivation and institutional reforms.

According to him, regular and timely promotions introduced under Marwa’s leadership have significantly boosted officers’ morale and enhanced operational efficiency across the Agency.

“The timely promotion of deserving officers is a clear demonstration of the Chairman’s commitment to rewarding excellence, professionalism, diligence and dedicated service, while strengthening the operational efficiency of the Agency in combating substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking nationwide,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Assistant Commander of Narcotics (ACN) Uche Agomoh expressed appreciation to the NDLEA leadership for sustaining prompt promotions and prioritising the welfare and career progression of personnel.

Agomoh also commended the State Commander for his exemplary leadership, mentorship and unwavering support.

“We are grateful for the confidence reposed in us. We pledge to remain steadfast, loyal, disciplined and committed to the Agency’s mission of protecting society from the devastating effects of illicit drugs,” he said.

The promotion exercise saw officers elevated across different cadres. Four officers were promoted from Chief Superintendent of Narcotics (CSN) to Assistant Commander of Narcotics (ACN), while three officers moved from Superintendent of Narcotics (SN) to Chief Superintendent of Narcotics (CSN).

Twenty officers were promoted from Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I (ASN I) to Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics (DSN), while nineteen officers advanced from Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II (ASN II) to Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I (ASN I).

In addition, four officers were elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II (ASN II), three officers each were promoted to Chief Narcotics Agent (CNA) and Senior Narcotics Agent (SNA), while one officer attained the rank of Narcotics Agent (NA).

The ceremony marked another milestone in the careers of the beneficiaries and reinforced the Agency’s commitment to rewarding excellence while strengthening the nation’s fight against illicit drugs.
