NYCN, UNIZIK Pledge Collaboration to Enhance Youth Development in Anambra

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Anambra State Chapter, has initiated talks with the management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, to strengthen collaboration on youth empowerment, leadership development and employment opportunities in the state.

This was initiated during a courtesy visit by the State Chairman of the Council, Comrade IKC Onuorah, alongside members of the State Executive Council and the Board of Directors, to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie.

Speaking during the visit, Onuorah said the engagement was aimed at fostering a strategic partnership between the Council and the institution to create sustainable opportunities for young people in Anambra State.

He described UNIZIK as a critical institution whose contributions to education, research, innovation and human capital development continue to inspire and prepare youths for future leadership and national development.

The NYCN chairman identified youth employment, institutional collaboration, entrepreneurship and leadership development, as well as programmes that promote volunteerism, civic responsibility and community service, as key areas for partnership.

He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to working with institutions that prioritise youth empowerment, development and welfare.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anyaehie, thanked the NYCN delegation for the visit and commended the Council for its dedication to advancing the interests of young people in the state.

He assured the delegation of the university’s readiness to partner with the Council in implementing programmes that would equip youths with the knowledge, skills and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive world.

The Vice-Chancellor also encouraged the Council to sustain initiatives that positively impact the lives of young people across Anambra State.

The visit ended with both parties expressing optimism that the proposed collaboration would promote youth development, educational excellence and community advancement in the state.
