The newly elected Executive Committee of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Anambra State Branch, has pledged to prioritize members’ welfare, strengthen the association, and promote professional excellence, declaring that “the campaign has ended; the work begins.”

The commitment was made following the election of the new leadership during the Association’s 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Scientific Conference.

Speaking after the election, the newly elected Chairman, Dr. Ndubuisi Arua, expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in the new executives, assuring them of transparent, accountable and dedicated leadership.

“We express our profound gratitude to every member of our great Association for the confidence reposed in us during the just-concluded elections,” he said.

Describing the overwhelming support received during the polls as both humbling and inspiring, Arua said the new executive accepted the mandate with a deep sense of responsibility.

“We do not take this mandate for granted. We accept it with gratitude, humility, and a firm commitment to serve the Association with integrity, transparency, accountability and dedication.”

He also commended members for participating peacefully in the electoral process, describing it as a demonstration of the Association’s democratic culture and collective resolve to build a stronger NMA.

Calling for unity after the elections, Arua emphasized that the leadership contest was over and that all members must now work together for the common good of the profession.

“The campaign has ended; the work begins. There are no winners or losers—only one united NMA Anambra committed to advancing the welfare and professional interests of all members.”

According to him, the new executive would build on the achievements of previous administrations while introducing initiatives aimed at improving members’ welfare, strengthening the Association, upholding the highest standards of medical practice and deepening collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

“We pledge to work together as one Executive Committee, building on the achievements of our predecessors while pursuing initiatives that will strengthen our Association, promote members’ welfare, uphold professional excellence, and deepen engagement with all stakeholders.”

He appealed to members to continue supporting the administration through constructive feedback, wise counsel and prayers.

“Together, we can build an NMA Anambra that is stronger, more united, more responsive, and better positioned for the future.”

The newly elected Executive Committee is led by Dr. Ndubuisi Arua as Chairman, with Prof. Osita Umeononihu serving as Vice Chairman.
