Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo has called on parents, teachers, community leaders and other stakeholders to renew their commitment to protecting children and youths from dangers of substance abuse.

She said such could be achieved through sustained awareness, prevention and support.

Soludo who gave the advice in a message to commemorate the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking described drug abuse as threat to future of young people.

She said drug abuse steals dreams, destroys potential and weakens the fabric of homes and communities.

“Drug abuse steals dreams, destroys potential and future, and weakens the fabric of our homes and communities,” she said.

The governor’s wife stressed that collective action remained essential in addressing the menace and safeguarding the future of the younger generation.

She expressed confidence that with the cooperation of government, families, schools, religious organisations and communities, Nigeria could build a healthier, safer and drug-free society.

“With all hands fully on deck, we can build a healthier, safer and drug-free society where every child has the opportunity to thrive. Say no to drug abuse,” she said.
