Ofoleh Lauds NGO, Anambra Govt for Offering Free Medical Checks To New Auto Spare Parts Market Traders

The Chairman of New Auto Spare Parts Market Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area , Chief Stephen Ofoleh (Award) has lauded Knowledge Network for Control of Disease and Vigilance KNCV and their partners, Institute for Prevention and Control of Diseases, IPCD which work in collaboration with the Anambra State Ministry of Health to provide free medical checks for traders and Ndi Anambra.

Speaking during a medical outreach at the market on Thursday, May 21, 2026 Ofoleh thanked Anambra State Ministry of Health, World Health Organization WHO, IPCD, KNCV for remembering the New Auto Spare Parts Market Nkpor as one of the markets where they commemorated World Hypertension Day though belated.

“Hypertension is a silent killer which sometimes causes heart attack, cardiac arrest or stroke when neglected. That is why World Health Organization WHO mapped out May 17th to promote advocacy on hypertension by educating people especially up to the age of 40 to regularly check there Blood pressure and other vitals to avoid total health break down or complications that could result in stroke or even death popularly called ‘Slump and Die’ in recent years.

“Traders, especially we Igbos are always running about for businesses, having no time to rest, sometimes at the detrimental of our health.

“So long as that person is having no symptoms he does not bother going for medical check up to ascertain wether he is fit, having internal sickness and start taking preventive treatment at the prescription of a qualified health care practitioner.

“Today,we are glad that this NGO partnering with State Government and WHO is here with various equipments and gadgets. They will check your blood pressure, scan your chest to check if you have heart problem. All these tests or checks will be done for free just as we informed you earlier in our market group WhatsApp platform.

“We thank them for choosing New Auto Spare Parts Market Nkpor for their free medical outreach,” said Ofoleh.

The Medical outreach Team leader, Lolo Ogoo Onuefi delivered a health talk advising traders on the need for visiting standard health facilities for regular check ups saying that prevention is better than cure.

” We are here with a machine that will check your heart which serves as the engine of your body. It will detect if you have pneumonia, lung problems or ulcers,

“Prevention is better than cure. We are here as community health workers to prevent you from falling sick. We decided to come to you traders since you have refused to come to the clinics. We shall give free drugs if we detect any ailment but the ones we cannot handle will be refered to a secondary or tertiary health facilitiy .

“Check your Blood pressure regularly, and also your blood sugar. Take a glass of warm water first thing in the morning except for ulcer patients.

” Some diseases that later become complicated were preventable but we waited until people termed it poison.

Mrs Benedict Anakor, Mrs Duru Chioma, Mr Kenneth Nnaedu, who were some of the beneficiaries from the medical outreach thanked the NGO and Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration for remembering the poor traders in the market.
