The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has applauded the appointment of Prof. Charles Ofoegbu as the Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resource in Anambra.
Chinedu Anyaso, Chairman of IPMAN, Enugu Depot Community made the commendation on Wednesday while reacting to the list of Commissioners nominee published on Tuesday.
Recall that Governor Chukwuma Soludo sent an 18-man list to the Anambra House of Assembly for screening.
Anyaso described the appointment of Ofoegbu as a square peg in a square hole given his years of theoretical and practical experience in the oil and gas sector.
He said Ofoegbu was the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company Limited in the first term of Soludo.
The IPMAN chairman said Ofoegbu had contributed in no small measure to the development of the Petroleum sector in Anambra and expressed confidence that more economic opportunities would be opened for the State in the sector .
He said downstream operators were happy with his appointment and were looking forward to a robust and mutually rewarding relationship.
โI want to commend Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for his choice of Commissioners as contained in the list of nominees.
โFor us as marketers, we are satisfied with the nomination of Prof. Charles Ofoegbu as Commissioner for Petroleum because he has the experience that is needed to drive that strategic sector.
โWe are happy with the progress Anambra is making in the oil and gas sector at the upstream level and this time we expect to see activities at the downstream level that would lead to solutions in distribution.
โWe look forward to a good working relationship with Prof. Ofoegbu and we promise to continue to support the government of Soludo,โ he said.
