Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state has approved the appointment of a Principal Officer and six other key officers following vacancies in the office of the University Librarian and six Directorates.
The appointments were ratified during the Councilโs 21st Emergency Meeting held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Council Chambers of the University, after a rigorous and merit-based selection process.
The newly appointed officers are: Prof. Eze Jacintha Ukamaka – University Librarian; Dr Jane Ezeonu โ Director of Medical Services; Engr. Ibe Obinna โ Director of Works Services; Akuma Paschal – Director of Procurement; Engr. Ezeokafor Lawrence โ Director of Physical Planning; Mr Obi Collins โ Chief Safety Officer and Aloysius Emeka Attahโ Director, Information and Public Relations.
All appointments took effect from April 17, 2026, and are for a single tenure of five (5) years.
Presenting the letters of appointment at the Council Chambers of the University, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Barr. Monsur Olugbenga Kukoyi, urged the appointees to justify the confidence placed in them through diligence, integrity, and dedicated service.
He further encouraged them to uphold the values of the University and serve as worthy ambassadors of the institution.
The Pro-Chancellor also appreciated the Visitor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa for their commitment towards the revitalization of the education sector and encouraging flourishing research, funding and institutional advancement in Nigeriaโs tertiary education sector.
Responding on behalf of the new appointees, Attah, Director, Information and Public Relations commended the Pro-Chancellor, members of the internal and external Governing Council, the Vice Chancellor and other members of the interview/ selection team for their painstaking exercise, diligence and rare display of forthrightness, stickling to merit, professionalism and competence, away from sectionalism, ethnic sentiments and other parochial interests.
He expressed confidence that they would not only live up but surpass every expectations required of them towards repositioning Nnamdi Azikiwe University as Africaโs most globally respected and accepted citadel of higher learning.
The appointment letters were signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Dr Chinenye Okeke.
These strategic appointments are expected to strengthen the administrative framework of the University and drive effective service delivery in line with its mandate, mission and vision statements.
