Anambra LG Commission Boss Decries Workers’ Poor Attendance in Awka South, Ogbaru LGAs, Orders Disciplinary Measure

The Chairman of Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Barrister Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka, has expressed deep worry over what he described as lackadaisical attitude of Awka South and Ogbaru Local Government Commission workers towards their duty, warning that the Commission would not condone indolence and absent from work.

In a statement separately signed by the Commission Chairman and made available to newsmen in Awka, Ezeaka urged the Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor, as well as his Ogbaru counterpart, to direct all the workers who were absent from work on Thursday, 19th February 2026 to be reporting to his in Awka till further.

‘I did an unscheduled visit to your Council, Awka South Local Government Area, on Thursday, 19th February 2026. Out of 320 workers posted to your council, only 231 workers’ names were on the attendance register.

‘You are hereby instructed to direct all the workers who were absent today without permission to start reporting to duty in the office of the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission Awka with effect from Monday February 23rd 2026 till further notice. Strict compliance is needed, please, ‘ LGSC Boss warned.

Similarly, the Commission Chairman equally urged the Head of Ogbaru Local Government Administration to follow suit by directing all the workers who were absent from work on Tuesday, 17th February 2026 to be reporting to the office Commission’s Chairman till further notice.

‘A peep into your attendance register showed that on no day did attendance record up to 50% of the workers receiving from the government in the last two weeks.

‘On the day of the visit, only 51 workers’ names out of 110 posted to you were on the attendance register as of 12:20 pm. when I inspected the register.

‘You are hereby instructed to direct all the workers who were absent today without permission to start reporting to duty in the office of the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission Awka with effect from Monday February 23rd 2026 till further notice. Strict compliance is needed, please,’ Ezeaka concluded.
