Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra state has mobilized 2,000 personnel, including regular and special Marshals to reduce expected traffic congestion across the state before, during and after the yuletide.

Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhuno disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Onitsha Area Commander of the Nigerian Police Force, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nzota Chidi.

She said the visit underscored the Sector Commanderโ€™s proactive efforts to enhance traffic management and public safety in collaboration with other security agencies.

She said, “The meeting centered on strategies to reduce expected traffic congestion along the Niger Bridge, Second Niger Bridge, and in Onitsha during the holiday season.

โ€œWorking in synergy with other agencies is key to achieving seamless traffic flow and ensuring a safe environment for all road users.

“The Command has mobilized 2,000 personnel, including regular and special Marshals, at key traffic points, along with tow trucks to clear obstructions and an ambulance for quick rescue services.”

The Sector Commander requested ongoing support from the police to supplement FRSCโ€™s operations, stressing the importance of joint efforts to ensure a successful end-of-year traffic plan.

While urging people of the state to cooperate with traffic officers to facilitate smooth traffic flow throughout the festive season, Asekhuno enjoined them to call the FRSC toll-free number at 122 for emergencies.

Responding, Nzota assured full support from the Nigerian Police Force, committing to deploying officers to work alongside FRSC personnel to create a safer driving environment during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
