United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre (UN-PEPOLAC) has commended Anambra State Government for championing Peace Building and Conflict Management Agency law.
International Global President, Amb. Dr. Festus Ozoemena made the commendation in Awka at the Peace Advocates Convention/AGM and 2025 World Peace Day Celebration themed; “Act Now for a Peaceful World”
He however called for the full implementation of the law strongly supported by the organization.
Addressing newly appointed peace advocates and ambassadors, Ozoemena stressed the need to commence and complete the Peace Building Center at Agu Awka to promote the course of peace.
He said the facility would serve as Secretariat for conflict resolutions and relaxation home where attributes of peace would be inculcated in guests and tourists to the edifice.
He added, “I want to emphasize our organization’s strong commitment to the UN global peace agenda 2030, the UNESCO Culture of Peace and our Positive Living Awareness Initiative.
“We align our efforts with the United Nations’ vision of promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable developments.
“We foster a culture of peace through education, dialogue, and community engagement, promoting understanding and respect among diverse groups
“We empower individuals and communities to adopt positive living practices, contributing to a more peaceful and harmonious world.”
Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze harped on importance of peace for better and just society.
Udeze, represented by the Clerk of the House, Tony Ughenu, described peace as gateway to happiness, urging support to every peaceful initiative.
“If there’s any commodity that is priceless, it’s peace. You can’t boast of being blessed without peace,” he added.
Also speaking, Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Moses Ezedebego described peace as defense mechanism.
“Peace isn’t absence of war, but having rest in the midst of war. Being in physical prison isn’t the worst prison. The worst prison is prison of the mind.
“When a mind is locked up with hatred and bitterness, evil and wickedness, crimes and violence becomes order of the day.
“That’s why World Peace day is very essential because it’s a foundation for progress and development. It’s vital for both individuals and society,” he added.
Earlier, Chairman of the event, Dr. Kenneth Nwuba described peace as God’s command which every human being should pursue, just as he commended the UN-PEPOLAC for its peace advocacy.
Highlights of the event were culture of peace awareness, peace awards, appointments, peace alive initiative campaign, investitures and paper presentations.
