The All Progressives Congress (APC) suffered a setback in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State ahead of 2023 election as some of its stakeholders defect to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The APC decampees also declared support for Hon. Patrick Obalum Udoba, the lawmaker representing Anambra West at the state house of Assembly and the candidate of APGA in the 2023 state legislative election.
The APC leaders that decamped to APGA included Chief Ignatius Izuoba, Arc.Chris Chukwudi Udoba, Barr. Emeka Nwasa, Amb. Emmanuel Nnaemeka, Barr. Onyekachukwu Okonkwo (Agu Udo jnr.), and Comr. Israel Paul Anekwe.

According to a report by Mr. Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Chigbata, media aide to Hon. Udoba, the decampees were officially recieved into APGA at the Ajandu Hall Umueze Anam, in Anambra West council area on Saturday.

Chigbata further disclosed that Udoba assured them of total integration and involvement in all APGA and Anambra West affairs and promised to consolidate on his achievements for a progressive Anambra West Constituency.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Chief Ignatius Izuoba said that they joined APGA due to outstanding and all inclusive representation of Ezego Anam since 2019 as a member Anambra State House of Assembly.

He noted that re-electing Ezego Anam was a better opportunity for the continuous development of the Local Government, as well as support for new administration of Prof. Soludo.

“The fact that Hon. Patrick Udoba runs all inclusive representation is never in doubt, as he facilitated the employment of Barr. Emeka Nwasa, the son of late Magistrate Nwasa of Mmiata Anam, without knowing him physically and he is among the decampees”, he said.

Recall that a former candidate of the APC in the 2019 House of Assembly election, Hon.
