The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election in the Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha (DNA) Federal Constituency of Anambra State, Barr. Prince Chukwudi Oli, has rejected the idea of empowering constituents with tricycles and motorcycles for commercial transportation, describing such interventions as inconsistent with his vision of meaningful representation.
Oli, popularly known as Oba Ezeafia, made the declaration shortly after receiving the NUJ Legal Excellence and Humanitarian Impact Award at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council Press Week 2026, held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu, on Thursday.

The APGA candidate argued that distributing Keke-Napep and motorcycles as empowerment tools exposes beneficiaries to daily road hazards and does not adequately address the deeper challenges confronting the people.
“I mean, true representation is not streetlights provision; it is not about sharing Keke-Napep or motorcycles. That is not my idea of representation. My idea of true representation is touching lives and making people feel the impact of democracy, and that is what I am doing,” Oli said.
The 2026 NUJ Press Week was themed, “Media Accountability and the Future Democratic Trust: Confronting the Crisis of Confidence Ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Elections,” with the sub-theme, “Media Innovation and Energy: The Role of the Media in Driving Innovation and Sustainable Growth in the Energy Sector.”
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Geoffrey Onyeama, chaired the occasion, while Comrade Lotanna Okereke served as chairman of the Press Week Committee.
Healthcare, Food Security, Entrepreneurship Top Oli’s Empowerment Agenda
Oli said that, if elected to the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, his representation would prioritise accessible healthcare, food security, entrepreneurship development and legislative interventions capable of improving the lives of his constituents.
“My representation is embedded in the provision of health, healthcare services, food, building entrepreneurs, and sponsoring and passing bills that will translate into laws,” he stated.
The legal practitioner explained that his professional background would enable him to contribute meaningfully to legislative drafting and the development of policies that directly benefit the people.
“If I tell you that with as little as N12,000, you can register someone in the Primary Healthcare Centre, and we have about 51 wards, you can register about 5,100 people with less than N65 million. You give them free access to healthcare services; you can feed them, and you are empowering people by creating entrepreneurs,” he said.
He maintained that empowerment should be measured by its long-term impact on beneficiaries rather than by the distribution of items that may expose them to risks or provide only temporary economic relief.
Rejects Election-Day Vote Buying, Says Traders Receive N50,000 Support
Oli also declared that constituents expecting financial inducements on election day would be disappointed, insisting that he does not believe in vote-buying.
According to him, his humanitarian interventions have focused on providing financial support to traders within the constituency to strengthen their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
“We are going to the market and empowering traders with as little as N50,000 per trader, and they are happy. They are doing a whole lot,” he said.
“I have told them that I won’t share money on the day of the election. I have told our people that if you want representation embedded in quality and humanity, remember that on election day, when you get there, you vote for me, Oba Ezeafia. And that is all I want to do in my humanitarian service work.”
The APGA candidate described the DNA Federal Constituency as one of the largest constituencies in the country, comprising 51 wards and approximately 715 polling units across Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha Local Government Areas.
He said he and his campaign team had been conducting consultations, community engagements and meet-and-greet sessions across various communities and wards, including Agulu, Ifitedunu and Adazi-Ani, following the commencement of electioneering activities.
‘Politics Should Be About Service, Not Personal Gain’
Explaining his motivation for entering politics, Oli said he was driven by the need to reposition political representation as a platform for humanitarian service and improved living conditions.
“I came out to run for this election because I feel politics should be viewed from a humanitarian angle, from a point of service. A servant is responsible and responsive; a servant reports to the people he is serving. Representation should be all about serving,” he said.
Admitting that he was relatively new to partisan politics, Oli expressed gratitude for emerging as APGA’s candidate after a keenly contested primary election.
“I have looked around, and I am just fairly new in politics. God has elevated me and given me the APGA ticket in a keenly contested primary election. I have looked around and noticed that people are poor. They need a better life,” he added.
