Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has urged Nigerians to be more intentional about their food choices, encouraging them to embrace fresh fruits, vegetables, whole foods and balanced meals to improve their health and overall well-being.
Soludo gave the advice in her message to mark World Food Day, stressing that building a healthier society begins with everyday decisions, particularly the food people consume.
She emphasised the importance of teaching children healthy eating habits from an early age, noting that proper nutrition should be seen as a lifelong investment rather than a luxury.
According to her, food plays a crucial role in nourishing the body, supporting mental well-being and preventing health challenges associated with unhealthy dietary habits.
“Food is more than just what we eat; it’s what we feed our bodies, how we nourish our minds, and the foundation upon which our health is built,” she said.

The Anambra First Lady noted that daily food choices could significantly influence people’s health, explaining that nutritious meals help strengthen the body, protect against illnesses and promote overall well-being.
“Every meal is a choice, and every choice really matters. The food on our plates can strengthen our bodies, protect us from illness, and support our well-being, or, when we consistently make unhealthy choices, contribute to diseases and poor health,” she added.
Soludo urged Nigerians to use the occasion of World Food Day to reassess their eating habits and prioritise nutritious foods in their daily diets.
“As we mark World Food Day today, let’s be more intentional about what we eat. Let’s embrace fresh fruits, vegetables, whole foods, and balanced meals,” she said.
She further called on parents and guardians to instil healthy eating habits in their children, describing good nutrition as an investment in their future health.
“Let’s also teach our children that healthy eating is not a luxury, but a lifelong investment in their future,” she added.
The governor’s wife maintained that collective commitment to healthier food choices could contribute to building a healthier society.
“Building a healthier society begins with the little choices we make every day, starting with what we put on our plates. Choose wisely. Eat healthily. Live fully,” she said.
