The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, on his appointment as the state coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign council.
The party described the appointment as recognition of Soludo’s leadership and commitment to progressive ideals, while expressing optimism that it would strengthen cooperation between APGA and the Federal Government.
In a statement issued in Awka on Tuesday, APGA National Publicity Secretary, Dr Ejimofor Opara, said the appointment aligned with the party’s position on strategic partnership with the Federal Government for the benefit of Anambra State and the South-East.
Opara said APGA had formally adopted Tinubu as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election during its National Executive Committee meeting and the President’s working visit to Anambra on May 8.
“In line with this resolution, APGA did not field a presidential candidate for the 2027 election,” he said.
According to him, Soludo’s mantra, “Progressives Are Working Together,” reflects the party’s ideological alignment with the progressive movement at the national level.
He added that the partnership had yielded benefits for Anambra through federal collaboration on critical infrastructure and economic development.
Reaffirming the party’s political position ahead of the 2027 general election, Opara said APGA would support Tinubu’s presidential bid while focusing on legislative contests in Anambra State.
“In Anambra, it is Tinubu for President, APGA for Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly,” he stated.
Opara expressed confidence that Soludo would deploy his organisational experience and political reach across the South-East to mobilise support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to cooperation between progressive political forces, adding: “Indeed, progressives are working together.”
The development signals APGA’s stated intention to maintain its partnership with the Federal Government ahead of the 2027 elections while pursuing its own legislative ambitions in Anambra State.
