Anambra Dominates National Teachers’ Awards, Wins 9 Honours, Jeep, Tricycle, Freezers, Laptops

Anambra State has recorded a remarkable outing at the 2026 President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards, winning nine national honours and emerging overall winner in eight categories.

The state also emerged first runner-up in the Best Public Secondary School Teacher category, accounting for half of the 18 honours presented at the national awards.

The feat saw teachers, school administrators and schools from Anambra recognised across both public and private education sectors, further placing the state’s education system in the national spotlight.

Anambra emerged overall best in the categories of Public Primary School Administrator, Public Junior Secondary School Administrator, Private Junior Secondary School Teacher and Public Primary School Teacher.

The state also won the Private Junior Secondary School, Private Senior Secondary School, Private Junior Secondary School Administrator and Private Primary School categories.

In the Best Public Secondary School Teacher category, Anambra emerged first runner-up.

One of the major highlights of the awards was the recognition of Mrs Gloria Nkolika Odionu of Awada Primary School 4, Obosi, who was named Overall Best Public Primary School Administrator in Nigeria.

Odionu received a Jetour black Jeep as part of the prize attached to the honour.

Another Anambra awardee, Mrs Agatha Chika Ofojindu of Urban Boys Secondary School, Onitsha, emerged Best Public Junior Secondary School Administrator in Nigeria, receiving a tricycle as her prize.

Other Anambra awardees received deep freezers and laptops in the various categories.

The nine honours cut across teachers, administrators and schools in the public and private sectors, reflecting the breadth of recognition achieved by the state at the national level.

The strong performance underscores the recognition of excellence in teaching, school administration and institutional performance among Anambra schools.

With the nine awards, the state also went home with a collection of prizes, including a Jetour black Jeep, a tricycle, deep freezers and laptops.

The 2026 awards therefore mark another national recognition for education stakeholders in Anambra, with the state’s teachers, administrators and schools collectively earning honours for their contributions to educational excellence.
