Anambra CP Orders DPOs to Heighten Security Alert, Renovate Police Stations

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has ordered Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the state to sustain heightened security alertness and ensure personnel remain proactive, responsive and strategically positioned to tackle emerging threats.

The CP gave the directive during unscheduled inspections of police divisions across the state as part of efforts to strengthen operational readiness, assess personnel preparedness and improve grassroots policing.

During the visits, CP Oji Ama inspected the general condition of the police facilities, arms, operational equipment and personnel readiness, while assessing the level of security preparedness and responsiveness of officers and men in the affected divisions.

He also directed DPOs to prioritise the proper maintenance and facelift of their respective stations, stressing that police facilities must remain clean, functional, orderly and conducive to effective service delivery.

According to the Commissioner, “The physical condition of a police station contributes significantly to public confidence and the quality of engagement between the Police and the communities they serve.”

He further charged officers and men to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, courtesy and respect for the fundamental rights of citizens, while remaining firm and decisive in the discharge of their lawful responsibilities.

The Commissioner urged personnel to remain vigilant and proactive in gathering and acting on intelligence, warning that officers must be adequately prepared to respond promptly to security challenges within their respective Areas of Responsibility.

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led and community-oriented policing, CP Oji Ama assured residents that the Command would continue to strengthen its operational strategies, increase police visibility and sustain measures aimed at preventing crime and protecting lives and property across the state.

The police divisions visited include the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu; Dunukofia Police Station; Oyi Police Station; and the newly constructed Ogbunike Police Station.
