Anambra Awaits Firstlady Oluremi Tinubu’s Historic Visit Scheduled for September 10

Thousands of Anambra residents are expected to benefit as Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, prepares for a landmark official visit featuring a major empowerment programme, the South-East launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme and project commissioning at Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

Anambra State is set to host Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in what will be her first official visit to the state since assuming office as First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The visit is expected to further deepen the partnership between the Federal Government and the Anambra State Government in key areas including poverty reduction, economic empowerment, food security and improved livelihoods for vulnerable citizens.

A major highlight of the visit will be the empowerment of 5,000 beneficiaries under the Progressives United Against Poverty Initiative, a partnership supported by the Anambra State Government in furtherance of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Support Scheme.

The programme is expected to provide practical economic support to beneficiaries, particularly vulnerable individuals and households seeking opportunities to become more economically productive and financially independent.

FOOD SECURITY ALSO TAKES CENTRE STAGE

Another key event on the First Lady’s itinerary will be the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East geopolitical zone, scheduled to take place in Anambra State on the same day.

The initiative forms part of broader interventions under the Renewed Hope Initiative aimed at strengthening food security and providing critical support to vulnerable households amid growing concerns over hunger and nutrition.

Senator Tinubu is also expected to visit the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where she will commission key projects at the institution.

The visit comes against the backdrop of what has been described as a growing partnership between the Federal Government and Anambra State.

During his previous state visit to Anambra, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu described the relationship between the Federal Government and the state as one founded on “partnership and shared prosperity,” while commending the development efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

For Anambra, the September 10 visit represents more than an official engagement.

It will mark the First Lady’s first visit to the state in her current capacity, while also bringing economic empowerment, food-security interventions and development projects directly to thousands of residents.

With 5,000 people expected to benefit from the empowerment programme and the South-East Food Bank Programme set for launch, all eyes will be on Anambra as the state prepares to receive Nigeria’s First Lady on September 10.
