FRSC Tightens Security at Oraifite Command with New Gate, Solar Street Lights

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has strengthened security and improved visibility at its Oraifite Unit Command in Anambra State with the commissioning of a new entrance gate, solar-powered street lights and other infrastructure projects.

The projects were commissioned at the RS5.36 Oraifite Unit Command in Ekwusigo Local Government Area as part of efforts to improve the security, functionality and physical outlook of the facility.

They include a new entrance security gate, four solar-powered street lights and a mini connecting gate.

The entrance gate was donated by High Chief Chudi Ufondu, Ichie Odogwu Oraifite, while Chief Donatus Ndukwe donated the four solar-powered street lights. The Unit Commander, CRC Ogechukwu Nwolisa, sponsored the mini connecting gate.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony as part of her third quarterly visit to the Unit in 2026, the FRSC Sector Commander in Anambra State, Bridget Asekhauno, commended Nwolisa for what she described as her transformational leadership and commitment to improving the Unit Command.

She also praised the project donors, stressing the importance of partnerships between government institutions and host communities.

“Effective road safety management is a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of government agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, security agencies, religious organisations, youth groups and other relevant stakeholders,” Asekhauno said.

She called on other stakeholders and members of the Oraifite community to support FRSC programmes and initiatives aimed at improving road safety and advancing the Corps’ strategic objectives.

Earlier, Nwolisa thanked the Sector Commander, project donors, sister security agencies, stakeholders and members of the host community for their support.

She particularly acknowledged the Sector Commander’s moral and financial contributions to improving the physical environment and welfare of personnel at the Command, including the recent repainting of its hall.

Nwolisa described the newly constructed entrance gate as a major milestone, noting that it was the first major entrance gate provided for the Command since it was established in 2013.

“The new infrastructure will improve visibility and strengthen the security of the Command’s premises and assets, particularly at night,” she said.

The event featured the presentation of awards to the project donors and other stakeholders in recognition of their contributions to the development of the Unit Command.

Dignitaries at the event included Chief Emmanuel Ubajiaka, representing His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Dan Udoji, Anumanu Oraifite; representatives of the Nigeria Police Force and the Agunechemba Security Outfit; Rev. Fr. Anthony Nwachukwu of St. John Catholic Church, Oraifite; FRSC Special Marshals; representatives of Oraifite youth leadership and other stakeholders.

The guests commended the FRSC for its commitment to road safety and community engagement and pledged continued collaboration with the Corps to promote safer roads and protect lives and property.
