Anago Unveils Modern Classroom Complex in Awba-Ofemili, Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Education in Awka North

In a major boost to educational development in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, the Chairman of the council, Hon. ThankGod Chibuike Anago, has commissioned a newly reconstructed and refurbished classroom complex at Community Secondary School (CSS), Awba-Ofemili, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving learning infrastructure and expanding access to quality education.

The newly completed facility comprises a spacious examination hall, a modern principal’s office, and a fully equipped science laboratory, all designed to provide students and teachers with a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Anago described the project as a key milestone under his “Olu Obodo” development agenda, which prioritises people-centred projects aimed at transforming communities across Awka North.

He said the intervention reflects his administration’s determination to strengthen the education sector by investing in infrastructure that will positively impact the lives of students and educators.

“Education remains the strongest foundation upon which every prosperous society is built. This project is a clear demonstration that investing in education is investing in the future of Awka North,” Anago said.

The council chairman noted that the new classroom block is part of a broader strategy to address inadequate educational facilities, reduce classroom congestion, and create an enabling environment where students can thrive academically.

According to him, the project also aligns with the education vision of the Anambra State Government under Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, which seeks to guarantee free and quality education for every child.

“Education is a top priority for my administration. We will continue to execute developmental projects across communities in Awka North to improve educational facilities and increase access to quality learning,” he stated.

Anago urged students of the school to remain disciplined, committed to their studies, and strive for academic excellence.

“I encourage our students to stay focused, study diligently, respect their teachers and school authorities, and pursue excellence in every aspect of their education,” he added.

The council boss also appealed to the school management, parents, and members of the Awba-Ofemili community to take collective responsibility for protecting and maintaining the newly commissioned facilities.

“These structures belong to all of us. Their maintenance and protection are a shared responsibility. Our administration remains committed not only to providing a conducive learning environment but also to delivering people-oriented projects that improve the welfare of every resident of Awka North.”

Beyond improving education, Anago observed that the construction project had created employment opportunities for local artisans and labourers, while also inspiring hope among young learners.

He expressed confidence that the modern facilities would motivate students to perform better academically and encourage higher school enrolment within the community.

Residents of Awba-Ofemili welcomed the development, describing it as a landmark intervention capable of transforming education in the area.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Janet Chukwudi, commended the council chairman for fulfilling his promise to improve educational infrastructure.

“This is a remarkable achievement for our community. We believe the Chairman’s efforts will not only improve the quality of education for our children but also attract more development and opportunities to Awba-Ofemili. We pray that God grants him the strength and wisdom to continue the good work he is doing across Awka North,” she said.

The commissioning marks another significant step in the Anago administration’s drive to revitalise public infrastructure and position education as a catalyst for sustainable development in Awka North Local Government Area.
