Adimike Murder: Police Drag Deceased’s Son, Daughter, Suspected Accomplice to CourtBy Our Reporter

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arraigned three suspects before the FCT High Court 13 in Abuja over the alleged murder of Chief Godwin Adimike in the Guzape area of the nation’s capital.

Those arraigned are Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany, and Comfort Ajibade. Police disclosed that two of the defendants are children of the deceased.

The suspects were brought before the court on Monday on a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide, and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

How the Incident Happened

According to the FCT Police Command, the incident occurred on May 15, 2026, after officers at the Guzape Divisional Headquarters received a distress call from a relative who became concerned after repeated attempts to contact Adimike Godwin proved unsuccessful.

Detectives immediately responded to the residence, where they reportedly found the victim lying unconscious inside his room with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.

Police Investigation

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the killing.

Police initially arrested five suspects, including the deceased’s driver and gateman, as investigations progressed.

However, after concluding investigations, prosecutors filed charges against three of the suspects—Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany, and Comfort Ajibade—while the others were not included in the charges before the court.

According to the charge sheet, all three defendants are jointly facing charges of criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Adimike Godwin.

In addition, prosecutors filed separate charges under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act. Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony was charged with allegedly entering into a same-sex civil union, while Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were jointly charged with the same alleged offence.

The court adjourned the matter until September 30, 2026, for further proceedings and ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the hearing.

Police React

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to justice, the FCT Police Command stated that it would continue to investigate and prosecute criminal cases while respecting the constitutional rights of all persons involved throughout the judicial process.

“The FCT Police Command assures residents of the Federal Capital Territory that it will continue to pursue justice for victims of crime while respecting the constitutional rights of all persons throughout the judicial process,” the Command said in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.

The case has attracted significant public attention due to the relationship between the deceased and two of the accused persons. The allegations remain before the court, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
