Soludo who gave the advice as part of activities marking Hypertension Awareness Month underscored the need for individuals to regularly check their blood pressure, reduce salt intake, eat healthier meals as well as stay physically active.

According to her, high blood pressure, often referred to as “silent killer” could be detected early, prevented and properly managed with simple daily lifestyle choices and regular medical checks.

The governor’s wife who is founder of the Nonye Soludo Healthy Living Initiative, also warned against excessive alcohol and smoking, advising people to manage stress, get enough rest and to visit a healthcare expert when necessary.

She said, “This Hypertension Awareness Month, let’s remember that high blood pressure is often called the “silent killer” because it exists without obvious symptoms.

“Yet, with simple daily lifestyle choices and regular medical checks, it can be detected early, prevented, and properly managed.

“As always, I encourage everyone to make their health a priority: check your blood pressure regularly, reduce salt intake and eat healthier meals, stay physically active.

“Avoid excessive alcohol and smoking, manage stress and get enough rest, and visit a healthcare expert when necessary.

*Remember that a healthy Anambra State begins with healthy families and a healthy you.

“Let’s continue to spread awareness, encourage one another, and take deliberate and important steps toward healthy living. Your heart matters. So does your life.”
