The Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweka III has invoked the wrath of God and the gods of Obosi land over an Ukpor born land developer and a Member of Anambra State House of Assembly (names withheld) accusing them of allegedly invading an ancestral land belonging to Iweka family in Obosi and the demolition of goods worth millions of naira and shops of over 150 petty traders at Uwa Mgbede Market Obosi without prior notice or court order.

Addressing newsmen at his palace, Obosi Community in Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, where petty traders gathered to plead for His Majesty’s intervention, Eze Iweka III condemned in its entirety the actions of the duo whose thugs came with two bulldozers, in company of armed security agents to demolish the market.

Igwe Chidubem Iweka said: “Afia Uwa Mgbede is on our ancestral land, which we have been in possession of for over 200 years now with nobody entering in or dragging it with us.

“Just recently, a member of the House of Assembly came here and started making claims on behalf of a man not even from Obosi community.

“The next thing they did was to seal Afia Uwa Mgbede. About 10 days ago they came there with Naval soldiers, Udogachi operatives and started demolishing the wares and goods of people using two bulldozers to quickly demolish and level the whole market.

“The man said to be a native of Ukpor, a moneybag according to them came to intimidate and destroy the wares and container bodied shops of over 150 people who have been trading there over the past 25 years.

“I had to call Governor Chukwuma Soludo because of the presence of Udogachi but he said he does not know about the demolition.I called AIG Zone 13, Commissioner of Police but they all said they did not know about the demolition.

” We later realized that the Navy was there during the demolition. I said to them, how can the Navy supervise the demolition of a market, a private property without a court order.

“It has been roughly 10 days since the demolition took place and just yesterday being 11th March, 2026 they came around to the market, pasted something, probably a fake court order, took a photograph of it, removed it immediately and zoomed off,” alleged Eze Iweka III.

Eze Obosi Speaks: “The gods of Obosi land shall hold them accountable and deal with them. Ejim Ofor! Ejim Ogu! I wield the traditional ancestral spiritual staff. I am telling you people who perpetrated this heinous acts just because a money bag is sponsoring you, it will not be well with you all.

“You people grouped yourselves to come and steal from Eze Iweka ancestral family land but ‘oke adi eri ihe onye mu anya’ the rat cannot eat what belongs to someone who is awake.

“They said that the Ukpor land Developer has skyscrapers in various places. Let his money be flowing through the streets, that is why he is suppressing the poor. Over 150 petty traders, mostly widows and aged women who could barely feed there dependants were at my palace today rolling on the ground and seeking intervention because there shops and goods have been demolished with impunity and without prior notice.

“I call on the Almighty Father, Jah! God is alive. All those money will not save him.

Moreover, some of the displaced traders, victims of the illegal demolition at Uwa Mgbede Market corroborated the monarchs narrative pleading with state government to come to their rescue.

Mrs Obianuju Azubike, Mrs Chizoba Ezeafulukwe, Mrs Nwakaego Onuegbu, Obiora Nwanze and Mr Ifeanyichukwu Unanwa in their separate speeches said that the incident which took place on March 3, 2026 left them suffering in pains saying that they have been subjected to untold hardship since the sealing off their shops on February 8, 2026 without any information on the reason for the market closure till the actual demolition on March 3, 2026 without any court order or notice to vacate.

“Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mayor of Idemili North Chief Stanley Nkwoka, Eze Iweka III (Eze Ndi Eze) should please come to our rescue. Please help us! Deliver us from the hands of our oppressors who destroyed our shops and goods! Please, recover the Uwa Mgbede Market hijacked by land Grabbers , we have no other place to go ,” they pleaded.
