A knight of the Catholic Church identified as Sir James Louise has renounced christianity following non-acknowledgement of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah at the dedication of Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral.
The state-of-the-art cathedral was on Wednesday inaugurated for use during an event that attracted lots of personalities.
Our correspondent learnt that the edifice was first started by the late Senator, who volunteered to build the cathedral for the church.
He was said to have worked on the project to about 85 percent completion, before a new Bishop, Dr Jonas-Benson Okoye was posted to Nnewi in 2022, when he ordered Ubah to hands off the cathedral.
It was further gathered that the order had caused a rift between the Bishop and the Senator, as many insisted that the glory of the construction of the cathedral should not go to other people after he had sunk in money into the project.
However, James Louise, aka Ebube Anaedo during the church dedication, in a sharp protest, described treatment of the late lawmaker as unfair.
The visibly devastated man, shortly after the mass, removed his shoes and cap, signifying his knighthood costumes, and shouted with loud voice as he exited the church, “Ifeanyi Ubah, sorry for you!”
He added, “It’s unfair that not even in the brochure or orally was your name acknowledged as a contributor, even when you constructed over 85% of the edifice.
“How could anyone believe that the cathedral which Ifeanyi Ubah saved to build could be inaugurated without a mention of his name! This is bad
โThis is my last day as a Christian. Iโm done. Iโm done with Christianity. This is awful!”
The Nnewi Catholic Diocese was yet to offer any explanation to the development as at press time.
