Anambra Firstlady, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo has treated children from 33 orphanage homes across Anambra state to a lavish Christmas party.

The event, which took place at the banquet hall of the New Government House, Awka, was part of the First Lady’s resolve to extend the spirit of the season—which is love—to everyone, irrespective of their background in society.

The excited children presented Christmas carols/renditions and entertained guests with various performances.

Mrs. Soludo, while thanking the matrons and managers of the various homes, called on them to always give the adolescent ones a listening ear whenever they approach them, especially on issues concerning their bodies and development.

According to her, it has become very pertinent for children, especially female adolescents, to be open and express themselves to their parents, caregivers, and guardians on issues relating to changes in their bodies and interactions with the opposite sex.

To back words with action, the wife of the Governor took out extra time to have one-on-one interactions with almost all the adolescents that attended the occasion, in a bid to encourage them to feel free and open up whenever the need arises.

In a remark, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, while thanking the wife of the Governor for always standing in the gap whenever issues concerning children are involved, described her as a God-sent to the state.

According to Mrs. Obinabo, the Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, and his wife have been at the forefront of promoting the Child’s Rights Law, which aims at ensuring that children are protected at all times, irrespective of their background.

Some of the children, including Odinakachukwu, Godwin Christian., and Chioma Prescious thanked the wife of the Governor for her kind gesture and for remembering them at such a time when many go about making merry without thinking of homeless/orphaned children.

They prayed that God should continue to bless and protect the First Lady and her husband, Governor Soludo, in all their activities and endeavours.

Father Christmas, Panda and their friends also presented lovely gifts on behalf of Mrs Nonye Soludo to the children and their caregivers as they all danced and made merry.
