Sit-at-home: Police Hails Anambra Residents for Embracing Dialogue over Protests

The Anambra State Police Command on Sunday said residents have have embraced dialogue and peaceful engagements as means of addressing concerns over indulgence to unpatriotic actions

Spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement said the development was confirmed during security situational assessment following credible intelligence reports about planned protest in some parts of the State.

He lauded people of the State for their growing commitment to peace, unity, and progress, assuring that adequate security arrangements were in place to sustain existing peace and ensure law-abiding citizens continued their legitimate activities without fear.

“The assessment revealed that residents, particularly Ndi Anambra, have embraced dialogue and peaceful engagement as a means of addressing concerns.

“This is against indulging in unpatriotic actions such as protests, illegal sit-at-home orders, or any form of civil disturbance that disrupts public peace and socio-economic activities.

“The Command commends the good people of Anambra State for their growing commitment to peace, unity, and progress.

“It further assures that adequate security arrangements have been emplaced to sustain the existing peace and to ensure that law-abiding citizens continue their legitimate activities without fear.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu reiterates that the Command under his watch will continue to adopt proactive measures, strengthen community policing strategies and collaborate with critical stakeholders to maintain security, law and order across the State,” the statement reads.
