The South East Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dozie Ikedife Jr has expressed confidence in the party’s governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, stating that he is fully prepared to unseat the incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, in the upcoming November 8, 2025 election.
Dr. Ikedife, who represented the APC governorship candidate, made this known while addressing Journalists at the July Congress of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Chapter, held at the NUJ Press Centre in Awka.
According to him, Prince Ukachukwu emerged through a rigorous party primary process and is bringing to the race a robust manifesto, focused on revamping security, promoting business growth and restoring the dignity of the people of Anambra State.
“This election will not be easy, it is going to be very tough but Prince Ukachukwu and his deputy, Senator Uche Ekwunife are up to the task. They are ready to outwork Soludo, amplify the failures of the current administration and offer a clear alternative that addresses the real needs of Ndi Anambra.”
He described Prince Ukachukwu as a man deeply rooted in Anambra’s business culture, having risen through the ranks from apprenticeship to become a successful entrepreneur.
“He is the only candidate with significant investment in Anambra and has firsthand experience of the challenges business people face, he understands the streets, markets and what it takes to grow commerce in this state.”
On the issue of security, Ikedife criticized the current administration for its inability to tackle violence and non-state actors who he claimed have taken control of communities in Ihiala, Aguata, Orumba South and Nnewi South.
“We cannot continue to lose our people Ukachukwu will prioritize security from day one. Within the first 100 days, Anambra will feel safe again through effective collaboration with security agencies and community based initiatives.”
He also promised that the APC administration would introduce welfare programs targeting women and girls, including free antenatal care and support systems for new mothers.
In his remarks, the NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Emeka Odogwu, thanked Ikedife for attending the congress and commended his engagement with Journalists.
