The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olushola Oladoja, has initiated a campus tour in Anambra State, starting with a visit to the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Dr. Ossy Onuko.
This tour, which will extend to other Southeastern states, aims to reconnect NANS with students at the grassroots level. During the visit, Comrade Oladoja emphasized that Anambra was chosen to launch the tour due to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s youth-focused policies. He expressed a commitment to directly engage with students and evaluate their learning and living conditions.
“This visit aligns with our promise to return NANS to the grassroots. We aim to interact with students, inspect their hostels and classrooms, and ensure that federal interventions such as TETFund are effectively implemented,” Oladoja stated.
He also commended Governor Soludo’s administration for prioritizing education, highlighting the recent approval of a bursary scheme for students.
Dr. Onuko praised Oladoja for choosing Anambra for the tour, recognizing his proactive leadership and genuine concern for student welfare. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to educational development, revealing that over N6.5 billion has been allocated to upgrade schools to global standards.
The ACTDA boss encouraged student leaders to contribute to national development, emphasizing the importance of students being involved in decision-making processes. NANS Director of Innovation and Strategy, Comrade Salaudeen Lukman, described the visit as inspiring and appreciated Dr. Onuko for his accessibility to young people in governance.
