Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has extended warm felicitations to traditional rulers in the South East region, emphasizing that collaboration is key to building the South East of their dreams.

Soludo stated this during a meeting of the South East Traditional Rulers’ Council aimed at fostering unity and working together towards regional development.

He highlighted the importance of each stakeholder playing a vital role in the region’s advancement.

“As Governors of the South East, we are working together, and so far, so good,” he stated.

Acknowledging the rich customs and traditions unique to the zone, Soludo urged the monarchs and other community organizations to collaborate, asserting that their combined efforts could yield significant progress.

“We are as different as we are similar,” he remarked, recognizing the diverse cultures within the region while emphasizing the strength that can be found in unity. “We are stronger together, united in spite of our diversity. Keep up the spirit!”

Reflecting on the profound connection of the Igbo language, Governor Soludo noted, “The Igbo language holds us together, irrespective of the dialects.”

He lamented the changes that have occurred in Igbo land over the years, expressing concern about the erosion of foundational values and traditional practices.

“The Igbo land I knew as a child is no longer the same. The fundamentals seem to be eluding us, and many taboos that once bound our society are fading away,” he said.

Governor Soludo urged the South East traditional rulers to unite and work with various forces to reclaim their homeland. “This is your pivotal role,” he asserted.

He also addressed the ongoing clash of cultures and religions, which has resulted in celebration of ill-gotten wealth and other vices, calling for a renewed focus on the values of hard work, enterprise, and integrity.

“A society becomes what it celebrates,” he emphasized, advocating for a return to celebrating the regionโ€™s rich heritage and industrious spirit.

Earlier, Chairman of the South East Traditional Rulers Council, Dr. E.C. Okeke praised Governor Soludo for his commendable leadership and efforts towards the state and region’s development.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration among South East governors to enhance the welfare and progress of the region.

“You are a good Governor, doing well in all ramifications,” Dr. Okeke remarked, acknowledging Governor Soludoโ€™s initiatives and commitment to improving the lives of the citizens in Anambra State and beyond.

His endorsement highlights the positive impact of Soludo’s administration, which has been marked by significant strides in infrastructure, security, and economic revitalization.

Dignitaries at the event were Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka and his immediate predecessor, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe.

Others were Commissioner for Local Government, Town Union and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, Council Delegates from the South East States, among others.
