A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state, Comrade Ndubuisi Omile has absolved Nyesom Wike from the lingering crisis in Rivers State.

He said Governor Siminalayi Fubara is responsible for the crisis occasioned by the rift between the duo, attributing the feud to Fubara’s disloyalty to Wike who he referred to as his godfather.

Rivers Governor, Siminalayi Fubara

Speaking during an interview with newsmen in Awka, Omile, former Southeast Zone Protocol Officer regretted that Rivers governor allowed himself to be controlled by pride and ego, calling for his impeachment as solution to the crisis in the state.

He said, “In my own opinion, if I should be realistic in what is happening in Rivers state, I think the problem is from Governor Fubara. One thing about life is, if you allow someone to be a godfather to you for you to get power, also be ready to accept and obey the person when you get the power. That is my own philosophy of life.

“I keep on telling people, we have three levels of governors. One, a governor that has capacity. This is an individual that has the capacity to contest and win an election without the help of anybody.

“For example, Abia state Governor, Alex Oti has all it takes. He contested three times and won the last time. He made it by himself. He became governor because he has all it takes.

“The second category is someone like Soludo. He has all it takes but seeks the help of people and they helped him to emerge as the governor of Anambra.

“However, when you are a made governor, with due respect, like the governor of Rivers state, you should be loyal to the man that made you. Fubara was a made governor, yet those he is dinning with today are those that Wike fought to make him governor and now Wike is his enemy.

“Sometimes, I pity Wike because of what people say about him when they see him on television. They will say he is a drunkard. But I have a different view. Each time I see him, I pity him because I don’t think the man sleeps at night. It is so embarrassing and appalling because you know the cost of making someone governor.

“What I am seeing is not monetary issue but ego and pride. Fubara has so much pride in him. There are so many human activities not covered in the constitution, like Fubara seeking for Wike’s endorsement.

“When he was going to Wike to make him Governor, constitution was not applied. But now he is a governor, he is applying constitution that there is nothing like godfather.

“I don’t see Wike as somebody who will come to Rivers to hold the state not to progress. As far as I know, Wike loves River State. But that doesn’t mean that someone he made governor will be disrespecting him. Each time Fubara talks, I feel for Wike.

“That you have an immunity doesn’t mean you don’t have someone you listen to. One problem people have is when you emerge as governor you think because you are a governor then you control everyone but it doesn’t work that way.

“Some of these governors have someone they listen to. For Wike’s 8yrs tenure in Rivers and presently FCT Minister, nobody is saying he is not working. He is doing perfectly okay.

“The problem with Rivers is simply ego. They say power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. I feel in my own opinion that Rivers state governor is being totally intoxicated by power.

“He that goes to equity must go with clean hands. I believe in justice. The way forward for the state of Rivers is just for the people to impeach Governor Fubara. If the governor leaves, a citizen will emerge as the governor which means two heads are now working. I believe in reality of life. I know and believe that the problem is caused by Fubara not Wike.

“Most of these people fighting Wike from another state have their governors. Some are governors today, but will be glad to have a replacement.

“People are just envious and jealous. That is what is happening in Rivers and it would have been solved by now just that some people are fighting from different parts of the country with the aim of milking the treasure of the state and give the governor the moral to fight his godfather.”
