A former chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra State, Elder Chris Eluemuno, says the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi remains the candidate to beat in the 2023 election.

According to him, Obi will beat other contenders under free and fair election.

Speaking on the former Anambra governor’s chances on Tuesday, at his Nkwelle-Ezunaka community, Oyi Local Government Area, Eluemuno told our correspondent:, “It is electronic system of voting. I don’t think anybody will try it with what is happening now”

He however, warned that if by overt or covert means, the election was rigged, what would befall the nation would be more than the EndSARS episode.

”If they try and rig it, they will see more than they saw during the EndSARS protest. Nigerians are set for a showdown if the man of the people is denied his victory”.

He described the ruling party’s decision to field candidates of the same Muslim faith, in a secular state like Nigeria, as unfortunate.
“Christians are more in population than the Muslims or any other denomination in Nigeria”, he said.

”With this new system of voting, if they try to rig the election, they will see fire. The will of God must prevail on Obi. Presently there is insecurity because of maladministration.

“In 2014, I was a member of the National Political Reform Conference, we resolved to restructure the country but President Buhari refused to implement it. When he leaves now, a new President will reintroduce it”.

Recall that Eluemuno, was a former Chief Press Secretary, to the then Governor of Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo, and also a former President General of his Nkwelle-Ezunaka community.
