For residents and landlords of Christ the King Estate, Nka, Nsugbe community, Anambra State, it is the dawn of a new era for greater development and progress of the people of the area.
During the recent inauguration of the new executives of the estate, people of the area were in high spirits as they resolved to chart a new course that will not only lift the area to global reckoning but also give them a proper sense of belonging in the socio-political affairs of Anambra State.
Chairman of the Estate, Kingsley Nnanna (Eze Nwachinemere) who spoke in an elated voice during the ceremony noted that the inauguration ceremony marked the first time Nka Nsugbe successfully elected her executive members without rancour and acrimony of any sort.
He said they were poised to pursue the affairs of the estate towards promoting a new urban home where justice, prudence, equity and fairness will lead.
He said the inauguration ceremony aims to build a great partnership network through friendly handshakes, face to face meetings, peopleโs massive support and open discussions.
Eze Nwachinemere said that in the recent years, Nka Nsugbe has been producing materials such as large quantities of stones for building houses and large quantities of vegetable crops with the help of the riverine areas all he noted have been yielding great support to the economy of Anambra State and Nigeria at large.
While calling for government intervention, he said the estate is in need of assistance in the areas of infrastructural development, security and provision of additional political wards for election purposes.
He said, “Nka has been a semi-urban estate due to erosion disaster which has caused great harm to our roads and environment. Electricity has also been a problem due to poor immediate response from government.
“In the area of security, it has been a great challenge for us to employ well equipped security men to carry out their duties in safeguarding the lives and properties of the entire people in the estate.
โIn view of the strategic political relevance of the people in these changing times, it is expected that by now we should have gotten at least a political ward and sufficient polling centres but reverse has been the case in our great estate.”
Eze Nwachinemere called for volunteers who can donate and construct entrance gates to the estate which he disclosed that the estate community have decided to immortalise such donors by placing tags of respect of the personโs name in the gates in recognition of such individual contributions.
Traditional Ruler of Nsugbe community, Igwe Victor Ntorka in a goodwill message delivered to the estate members pledged his support to the people of the area in their efforts to make their place better.
Igwe Ntorka represented by the Owelle of Nsugbe, Chief Patrick Nnaemeka commended the people for showcasing Nka and Nsugbe community in general to the outside word positively through their exemplary conducts.
He urged those elected to pilot the affairs of the area to be servant leaders and not dictators.
Chairman of the occasion, Chief Kenneth Ezeabikwa (Ezego of Ogbunka) lauded the leadership qualities of Eze Nwachinemere whom he said was poised to change the face of the estate for the better. He promised to build one of the estate gates in his name singlehandedly.
A stakeholder and executive member, Sunday Eke urged all residents of the area to support the growth of Nsugbe and never work against its success in order to leave a positive legacy for generations to come.
Some of the newly elected executives of the estate included Obeleagu Franklin, Vice Chairman, Christian Okorie, Secretary, Nduka Nwanolue, Assistant Secretary, Iyke Sunday, Treasurer, Rose Morah, Fin.secretray, Ugo Nwokocha, Provost 1 and Chidi Nwankwo, Provost 11.
Some of the residents who have worked for the betterment of the people of the estate were also honoured with certificates of merit.
