Policemen Escape Death as Gunmen Attack, Set Their Patrol Vehicle Ablaze in Anambra

Policemen on patrol duty reportedly escaped death when unknown gunmen attacked them and set their vehicle ablaze at Nkpor Junction, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Anambra Daily learnt that the incident took place around 2pm on Sunday when the policemen parked their car to purchase some items in a nearby shop.

According to an impeccable source, as one of the policemen went to procure the item,
the gunmen who were in convoy of about four vehicles, had on sighting the police car where it was parked, opened fire on them.

“The police men who were on mufty had alighted from the car as one of them went to buy something. So, as the gunmen opened fire on their vehicle, they scampered for safety”, the source said.

“The gunfire forced people within the vicinity to flee for their lives including motorists who were plying the Nkpor/Umuoji road”, he adds.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, asked to be given more time get all the details, when contacted.
