The second term aspiration of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Gov. Ogbonnaya Francis Nwifuru, has received major boost as Ebonyi indegens resident in Anambra State hold solidarity rally for the governor, expressing their support ahead of February 6, 2027 election in the state.

The rally, held in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Monday, August 17, attracted prominent sons and daughters from the 13 LGAs of Ebonyi State, who reside in Anambra.

Speaking during the occasion, the President General of Ebonyi indegens in Anambra State, Chief Moses Ofoke, called on Ebonyi people at home and in diaspora, to rally round the governor to ensure the realization of his second term aspiration.

Chief Ofoke said that the endorsement was in appreciation of the governor’s strides in infrastructure, security and swift crisis resolution, which he said, has brought sense of pride to Ebonyi people at home and in diaspora.

He urged the people to be the foot soldiers of the governor wherever they may be, so that he would go back and complete the good work he started.

In his own speech, the President General of Izzi people resident in Anambra, Evangelist (Amb) Dr. Elijah Chukwuka Nwado, maintained that Nwifuru, unlike any other governor in the history of Nigeria, empowered one hundred Ebonyi indegens in each of the 36 states and Abuja – about 3,700 persons in all – with the sum of two million naira each, thereby reducing the state’s unemployment rate.

He added, “In order to improve human capital development of the state, the governor also sent hundreds of indegens overseas to do their Master’s degrees and PhDs in different fields.

“He did not stop there. All backlog of pension arrears and gratuities owed retired state workers over the years were settled by the governor. Again, he built ultra-modern palaces for all traditional rulers in Ebonyi State, in addition to several kilometers of roads built in every community.”

The community leader said that the governor equally built a very beautiful smart school in Izzi, the first of its kind in Nigeria; adding that he modernized Ebonyi Airport, and is planning to bring in more aircrafts, so that indegens will stop going to other states for the purpose of boarding aircraft.

He said that Gov. Nwifuru has performed well in his first tenure, and deserves to be given a second term opportunity.

Also, Chief Monday Nwokoye, the Ikemba of Okpoto, Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi State, described Governor Nwifuru as a Prince of Peace, in recognition of the governor’s giant efforts in the restoration of peace and security to different parts of the state.

Nwokoye, who is appointed by Governor Charles Soludo as the Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA), said that Ebonyi has been a crisis ridden state, but that since Nwifuru came on board, he restored peace between the Ikwo people of the state and their Cross River State counterpart; the people of Ezea/ Mgbo in Ebonyi and the people of Agila, Ado local government area of Benue State, among others.

The security expert also said that Gov. Nwifuru rebuilt all the houses ravaged by war in different parts of the state, restored peace and security, and resettled all the people that fled their homes because of wars.

Engr Amos Eze, the President General of Mgbo/Ezea Mgbo Town Union Association in Anambra State, also praised Governor Nwifuru’s efforts in maintaining peace and security in his area, and averred that there is no vacancy at the Abakaliki Government House come 2027, as long as Mgbo/Ezea Mgbo people are concerned.

Other prominent sons like HRH Eze Thomas Nwangene, Mr. Ifeanyi Okoh, Hon. Justice O. Ekumah, Chief Nwonu Linus, Mr. Ifeanyi Ezeani, Chief Moses Egbom, Bar. Uchenna Achor and High Chief (Prince) Chukwudi Aloh, who spoke during the occasion, emphasized their determination to mobilize their people for the purpose of working for Governor Francis Nwifuru’s re-election come February 6, 2027.
