2027 Elections: ADC Targets 100,000 Registered Members in Anambra

A 20-man executive of ADC Independent Campaign Council, AICC has been inaugurated in support of African Democratic Congress, ADC ahead of 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during the inauguration in Amawbia, Anambra state, chairman of the party in the state, Comrade Patrick Obianyo said ADC targets at registering 100,000 members in readiness for the poll.

Obianyo who disclosed that 22,000 members have so far been registered, however lamented the snag in traffic which resulted in late commencement of registration exercise which affected increased number of registered members

His words, “We want to ensure ADC is the only vehicle that can take Nigerians to the promised land, Mr. Peter Obi is the only capable candidate for a new Nigeria.

“However if Obi does not win to be the ADC candidate, as a loyal party man, I don’t have option than to support in moving the party forward”.

Describing the newly elected 20-man state executive of AICC as a support group to ADC, Obianyo said the group wanted victory for ADC to end sufferings of Nigerians which he alleged was inflicted on Nigerians by All Progressive Congress, APC.

In his post inauguration speech, state coordinator of AICC, Hon. Celestine Osunkwo expressed satisfaction with the exercise, hinting that 20 executive members are in each ward, each local government area and in the state level to ensure proper awareness is created about ADC towards victory come 2027 presidential election.

“Online registration is currently going on and we mobilise people, give them data, we will give ADC 100 per cent support. I urge members of the AICC to liaise with chairmen of ADC at various levels to ensure adequate awareness,” he pleaded.

Contributing, financial secretary, Stanley Ajah, said the newly inaugurated state AICC is expected to work towards victory for ADC, assuring they would sit up to achieve that.

He said, “We are expected to work towards delivering ADC. All of us should sit up because it is our responsibility to deliver ADC,” he stated.

Anambra South coordinator, Hon. Victor Nwawuzie, commended the state leadership of AICC for her relentless efforts towards the struggle to ensure ADC victory come 2027.

“All of us know why we are here today, to deliver Peter Obi who is our own as the next president of Nigeria. Everybody is suffering because of the administration of the APC led Federal Government,” he stated.

A chieftain of AICC, Hon. Engr. Nwosu Emmanuel, recalled how he with others assisted to ensure President Bola Tinubu’s victory in 2023 election adding that later they abandoned him for failing to fulfill his electioneering campaign promises.

“I was a strong member of Tinubu/Shetima ticket until majority of Nigerians turned against him because Tinubu failed in his campaign promises. Some of us campaigned vigorously for Tinubu in 2023 hoping he will impact positively on Nigerians.

“The two promises we made for Nigerians were not fulfiled by Tinubu and they include, to end or terminate our dual currency market. It is only in Nigeria that you have dual currency market.

“Another is that Dangote Refinery will buy crude in naira and sell petrol in naira so that the pressure on dollar will go down,” he further disclosed.

Others were, treasurer – Mrs Uchenna Okpeke, Asst Treasurer – Chief John Okafor, Woman Leader – Mrs Ujulove Okoye, Asst Woman Leader- Precious, Amarachi Offor, Youth Leader – Levi Ekene Olumba, Asst Youth Leader -Uchechukwu Nwafor, Organizing Secretary – Amaka Thelma Edeh, Asst Organising Secretary – Nwankwo Fredrick.
