ASMATA Warns New Executive Officer of Vegetable Salad Dealers Against Selfishness

Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders’ Association, (ASMATA) has advised the 10 man executive members of Association of Vegetable Salad Dealers (AVSD), Awka not to be selfish in piloting the affairs of the association.

President General, Chief Humphrey Anuna gave the advice at the inauguration of the group at the ASMATA Secretariat in Onitsha to ensure reduction in the price of goods especially food items during Yuletide.

He warned that the chairman and Secretary should be held responsible in any market crisis.

Inaugurating the association, ASMATA boss commended the traders for coming out en masse to support the inauguration of their executives and advised them not to be deceived by enemies of progress in their midst.

“I am happy with the large turn up of your members and this is the highest number of people I have recorded since I commenced the inauguration of market executives,” he disclosed.

Swearing in the executives, the Aguata Zonal Chairman and Chairman of all chairmen, Chief Chidozie Ezeigwe urged them to abide by their oath of office and obey the rules and regulations of markets and ASMATA.

Chairman, Onitsha zone and chairman Onitsha South Street Traders Association, Chief Eric Uwaoma handed over the constitution of ASMATA to the inaugurated caretaker executives.

Chairman, Association of Vegetable Salad Dealers, Awka, Mr Nnaemeka Afulukwe said, ” We are an association that works on our own. Even though today we had an appointment from the government to be a new caretaker committee of the association.

“We are looking unto government to help us to have market of our own and to solve any issues that we are facing.I pray God to give me the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the association. I believe that God will guide and protect me.

“We plead to government to provide us with a permanent site (land), that we will call our own as landlords,” he prayed.

Secretary of the association, Mrs. Njoku Uche stated, “I have the privilege to be on this position today and as such we will make sure that prices for transportation of goods will reduce drastically especially at this Yuletide period.

“Now that we have been appointed, we will make peace with everyone in our market and resolve the lingering crisis by applying wisdom in piloting the affairs of the association.”
