The Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council (ASTRC), His Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweka III of Obosi Ukwalla kingdom has urged human beings to develop the willingness to serve each other by extending love and care to people around them, especially to the physically and mentally challenged, abandoned or less privileged in the society.
Igwe Chidubem Iweka made the call yesterday during the Grand Opening/Support Day of Somadina Orphanage and Challenged Foundation Facility at Christ Army Lane, opposite Odenigbo Radio FM, Uruowulu, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State.
“Somadina Orphanage and Challenged Foundation is all about humanitarian service. It is an Non Governmental Organization NGO proper.
“We are in this world to serve. The world will be a beautiful place if we all decide to serve each other, when you are willing to serve me and I am also willing to serve you selflessly,” said Eze Iweka III.
The Promoting Chaplain/Director, Chap. Gen. Amb. Dr. John Rich Ubah said that Crown Patriots Chaplaincy CPAC International established Somadina Orphanage and Challenged Foundation Facility as part of their services, where to receive the vulnerable, the less privileged orphans and the mentally challenged to care and show them the love of God.
“Those who have gotten financial resources from God should remember that there are people, the down trodden, less privileged and mentally or physically challenged here and some other places. They should think humanitarian works, hospitality and show kindness to people,” Ubah said.
According to the Host Matron, Mrs Meg Nnoba, Somadina Orphanage and Challenged Foundation is a home born out of a vision to provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for orphaned children and physically challenged who through no fault of theirs have been left without parental care or access to life basic needs.
“Every child here will be given more than a shelter, they will be given love, education, healthcare, counseling, emotional support, mentorship, dignity, creating opportunities for skill acquisition, empowerment and talent development so they may one day contribute meaningfully to the society.
“Your support is a reminder that together we can make a difference in these children and humanity at large. I humbly invite you to invest in this vision financially and otherwise,” she said.
In his sermon, Chap. Gen. Bishop Dr. Norman Okeorimili spoke from James 1:27 – Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction… stated:”GOD GIVES AND FORGIVES; MAN GETS AND FORGETS. Heaven measures our greatness not by what we own, but by what we give; not by what we accumulate, but by what we contribute to humanity”.
“The less-privileged are not a burden on society. They are a divine assignment. They are Heaven’s invitation for us to enter a higher dimension of mercy, compassion, and relevance.
“We are not here today simply to inaugurate a facility. We are here to birth a movement of compassion, to institutionalize empathy, to say to every forgotten child: Your destiny matters. Your future matters. God has not abandoned you, and neither will we.
“Somadina Orphanage stands today as a prophetic statement — that humanity still has a heart; that generosity still has a voice; that love still has a place in our world. Let us unite our hearts, our resources, and our goodwill to strengthen this divine project. Let our giving not end today; let it become a lifestyle and a legacy,”said Okeorimili.
Earlier in her keynote address, Prof. Rita Ugokwe -Joseph noted that sometimes the children people think are hopeless, useless and challenged are not the ones challenged but the parents who do not know what to do at such instance are the ones challenged.
“Somadina Orphanage and Challenged Foundation is established to support the challenged especially children. When children get into drugs and behaviors that are odd in the environment which is challenging to their families we come in to help such children.
“People should assist the Orphanage in order to actualize the reason for its establishment. They can also assist through bringing their children or people who they feel are challenged,” said Prof. Ugokwe – Joseph.
The President General of Obosi Community, Barr. Chimezie Obi who graced the occasion with his entourage observed that God’s hand was already manifesting upon Somadina Orphanage. He encouraged everyone to Pay Forward any good done to them to someone else anytime they can ‘PAY IT FORWARD’.
“I was inspired to feed 100 orphans today, when the food was ready as I was about heading to the popular motherless home at Afor-Adike market, I just remembered that someone invited me about the opening of a new Orphanage.
“I searched for the invitation card to know the location of the Orphanage only to realize that today was the Grand Opening ceremony for the facility because no one reminded me. I am here with food to feed 100 orphans right away. This is a proof that God can never abandon or forget Somadina Orphanage and Challenged Foundation,” said Obi.
Highlights of the occasion include cutting of cake, presentation of Merit Awards to Dignitaries for their humanitarian services, blessing/dedication of the facility by Rev Fr. Dr Jude Obidigbo.
