Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra state Command has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with community stakeholders to foster culture of safety on the roads.
Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno gave the assurance during a visit to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maryland, Amawbia as part of activities marking the 2025 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
Speaking during the visit, Bridget Asekhauno stressed the need to position churches as influential platforms for promoting positive values and behaviours.
She urged church leaders to incorporate road‑safety messages into their sermons and programmes.
While warning against drunk driving, distracted driving, including mobile‑phone use, as well as reckless overtaking, the FRSC boss emphasized the vulnerability of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.
She further highlighted key road‑safety statistics in the State, causes and consequences of road crashes, underscoring the importance of obeying traffic regulations, including speed limits and traffic signals.
“We’re here to raise awareness about road safety within faith‑based communities and to encourage responsible road‑user behaviour.
“The FRSC Anambra Sector Command will continue to collaborate with community stakeholders to foster culture of safety on the roads.
“We are grateful to the clergy and the faithful for embracing this important cause. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone,” Asekhauno added.
Responding, the church leaders expressed commitment to supporting FRSC’s efforts to reduce road crashes in the state.
